The V5-tag is derived from the P and V protein of the simian virus 5 (SV5, a paramyxovirus). The V5-tag is an often used peptide tag (epitope tag) to detect expression of recombinant proteins in bacteria, yeast, insect and mammalian cell systems or to purify proteins.
